Corey and Lisa said "I Do" on a beautiful Friday in October. I traveled to Conewango Valley Country Club in Warren Pa to photograph their beautiful details and so sweet moments!
Mason & Meredith : A Christmas tree farm engagement in Edinboro pa
Christmas tree farms are SO ADORABLE! Especially for engagement portraits. Mason and Meredith met me in Edinboro for their romantic and cuddly session amongst the evergreens.

I am just so excited to be typing this post for you today. I have been on the lookout for a while for team member, and thanks to Instagram and a 2017 bride, I found one! I am so excited to introduce Claire to you all! Can you tell that I am really happy and ready for this? I want to just give a little backstory here. I have been photographing weddings for a while now, and most of the time I was photographing them by myself. Now, I loved photographing weddings by myself but I was just so tired afterwards. Picture this : I’m ready to photograph the ceremony. I always walk behind the bride and her dad ( or whoever is walking her down the aisle) , grab a quick photo of that moment and then I have to run down the side of the ceremony cite to grab the groom’s reaction and some other key photos. I’m doing it all by myself and it totally works! I decided that it was time to have another photographer work with me and oh mylanta did that make a world of difference. I was used to just contacting a few people when I had a wedding and we’d go from who was available. That’s how last season went and it was great! However I found myself wanting something more. I wanted the feeling of a team, rather than just another photographer. So I started my look for a permanent second shooter.
I posted in the usual few groups on Facebook, and asked around. Crickets. So I took to Instagram and then all of a sudden I got a notification. My super sweet bride Hannah had commented and tagged someone!! I waited to see if they would reply and sure enough she did. We sent a few formal emails back and froth before I really got to know her. Once all the formalities were in place and questions were answered I did my typical Sam creep job, and learned that this girl was going to be so much more than a team member. She was funny, she loved food (I mean this right here is essential for me), and she wanted to learn! More talking led to discussions entirely about food and cows and I was hooked. We will most certainly figure out how to bring along hot snacks on a wedding day and eat them in the car. I can feel it. I am ready to really teach someone how do make a wedding amazing, and having someone as excited to learn is making it all the better! So, let me introduce you to Claire!
I asked Claire a few questions for this post, so we can all learn a bit more about her before she starts popping up in my feed and I talk nonstop about how awesome she is!
S: Why did you comment on my post in the beginning?
C: I was tagged from a mutual friend! I had been wanting to grow my photography business + abilities for while, and my heart just knew this was the way to approach it and the perfect next step to take, after reading what you (Sam) was looking for! (And I creeped on her lol)!
S: What made you want to work with me after we had a chance to talk over things?
C: After talking with you (Sam), it was evident our souls were meant to cross paths. We connected like old friends (totally true) Not only were our styles matching perfectly, but our hearts want to capture the same emotions from our clients.
S: What are you most looking forward to ?
C: I am most looking forward to gaining a lifelong friend and mentor that will lead me the way to a successful and rewarding photography career. I’m most definitely looking forward to some of the 6 hour car rides together to weddings because let’s be honest…we’re just hilarious together. (Strongly agree here!) Those times will also be great to talk one on one about goals, future endeavors in this crazy wonderful photography world, and also learn all that I can when it’s just her and I.
**Note here to say that when I read these answers I 100% cried. These statements that came right fro Claire’s heart really solidify that this decision was the best for me this year. I have a heart that just wants to share with the world, and while I can’t jump into that pool yet, one student will have to do for now. I am so ready and happy to teach Claire to give her clients the absolute best experience and memories.**
S: Tell me 5 facts about you that you really have to dig for!
C: 1. When I’m not taking photos I’m saving lives! I’m a veterinary technician. I went to school for it and have been in the field for about 2 years now.
2. My heart is stuck in the 70’s! I am an old soul, and have been told I’m an old soul by many people. I often use my nostalgic creativity in my photography work. Capturing memories you can look back on forever is my favorite.
3. I was sort of a wild child growing up (girl. Same.)I was always getting hurt right now I have an average of about 30 injuries that now haunt me! Lol! The worst though was breaking my dominant hand twice. (Don’t worry I will absolutely get that story)
4. I’ve helped deliver lots of calfs. My fiance and I met when he was dairy farming. (SHE LOVES COWS TOO!!!)
5. My favorite pastime is snuggling up wit ha warm blanket watching movies and eating popcorn.
Oh you guys, Claire is so awesome and I just know all of my 2018 brides are going to ADORE her as much as I do. Get ready for a great year, I know we are!
