I woke up April 28th way earlier than I normally would. I was filled with jitters and excitement and so much energy. It was still dark out but I jumped in the shower and pulled out my favorite wedding day dress. The first wedding of the season always has a special spark to it, and I just knew it was going to be great. I was a little nervous once the sun came up and the clouds rolled in, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from capturing some perfect portraits. Andrew and Brittany are just the sweetest couple, and I knew that once we started they’d stick it out for me if I asked them to.
Brittany is from Buffalo, so the girls were able to get ready in Andrew’s grandparent’s house. It was so cute and special and I just loved this little sunroom they had! Brittany did an amazing job picking a soft mint green for her bridesmaids, perfect for spring. She is a tiny little beauty, and holding her dress up I realized it may be the shortest one I’ve seen yet! The girls were all having a blast, singing together while hair and makeup was being done, and it just felt so good to be there with them.
The ceremony held by Andrew’s father had a beautiful yet simple message. I always like to pay close attention to the words in a ceremony. It amazes me how many different ways you can explain love and becoming one with each other. I will never cease to be amazed and emotional. Once we were ready for some bridal party portraits I ran out to check the weather situation. It was cold and spitting rain. I knew if we worked quickly with lots of energy I could make this work! Luckily, this bridal party was just as crazy and fun as I am so it made my job a ton easier!
We headed over to Mercyhurst University for some beautiful and chilly portraits. We zipped through bridal party photos cheering and laughing and hoping the wind wouldn’t come blow us away. Finally I could spend some time with the new Mr. and Mrs. and just like their engagement session, they didn’t disappoint. The love they share is so sweet and special, it’s romantic and so warm. The way Andrew looked down at his new bride made my eyes water-more than the wind did. It was so beautiful, he would do the sweetest things without me saying a word. I took a step back and really just let them settle into these roles now with each other, and it was almost like the cold and rain went away even for just a few minutes.
We headed over to the reception, held at the Siebenbuerger Club, and the party commenced! There were laughs and stories shared, a beautiful first dance full of dips and turns, and even an infamous cookie table! During the dancing, the bridal party snuck away to go decorate the getaway car, and when my assistant went down with them, I knew it was going to be good. I’m so excite to share some of these moments with you, and I know that Andrew and Brittany are off enjoying each other, but they’ll be able to look back at these photo and feel so much joy that they shared with family and friends.
