A Mercyhurst Merger Wedding | Mr. & Mrs. Himede

Diego told me, as we waited , that I was in for all of the emotional groom photos today.  I thought he was being funny, that maybe he’d tear up a little but no way.  He was right on par with that, and for all of the best reasons.

Diego and Josephine met at Mercyhurst University, and as fate led them in their lives, they both ended up in Texas.  Out of all the cities in all of the world they were together.  I know fairytales often include mythical creatures, and magical powers, but their story is just so magical that it could be a fairytale all on its’ own. I was welcomed with open arms as we all entered the getting ready room at Mercyhurst’s Chapel.  It was lit beautifully, with a white couch perfectly placed for swoon worthy bridal portraits. My second shooter and I looked around as the large room became smaller with each bridesmaid that filled it.   It was time to line up, a quick but emotional first look with dad left everyone ready to just do the darn thing and we were off.

The moment Diego saw his bride, his eyes welled up and tears fell down his cheeks.  He didn’t even try to hide it.  This was the moment he had waited for.  This was the first moment of the rest of his life.  I could tell that all he wanted to do was run up that aisle and wrap his arms around Josephine, but he stood there and waited.  Their ceremony was simple yet sweet.  It wasn’t in need of all the grand events that sometimes occur.  It truly was just about them in that moment.  They were announced as husband and wife, and the applause that filled the chapel roared.

It was raining off and on all afternoon, and you’d think that would slow a bridal party of 19 down.  Not these guys. They had places to be, music to dance to, and memories to share.   We made it down to the bay just as a break in the rain cleared, and it was magical for those 15 minutes.

Let me preface this gallery of images by saying- these guys can throw a party.  Diego and his family are from El Salvador, and while I had an inkling it was going to be fun I truly had no idea just how much fun we were ALL in for. I’m talking confetti and glitter hats and dancing. So much dancing. The constant flow of people on and off the dance floor including  the groom himself shocked me.  It was just an amazing day, and to get to experience it with them made it so special.  I hope you enjoy these moments from their day!

Mr. & Mrs. Himede- thank you. Listening to me pose a bridal party photo for 10 minutes must have been crazy, but you trusted me. Laughing through the rain and running into your favorite college bar was an absolute blast, and I am so happy you chose to share that with me.  I hope that you can look through these photos in 10 years and still feel the same way you did today.  It was magic.
