When close friends get married, you’re usually super excited right? That is super normal! However, when someone you’ve known for 24 years gets married AND asks you to be their photographer, you flip out. I’m talking cartwheels and crying and driving 4 hours and not caring one tiny bit. That was me when Gabby asked if I’d photograph her wedding day. There wasn’t a moment of hesitation for me. I knew I had to be there.
Weekday weddings aren’t super common around here, and even more so with the pandemic that is going on. Wednesday came and I was ready to pile in my car and head to Deep Creek, Maryland. The drive was so beautiful. I had never been to Deep Creek before and had literally no idea what I was in for. It is gorgeous! If you’re close enough to go, I recommend 100%.
Gabby and I have been close since grade school. We moved schools together and went to the same high school as well! Talk about ironic right? So we’ve done a lot of those big things together. This was a moment I knew I’d never ever forgive myself for if I missed. Lucky for me I didn’t and won’t have to handle that.
Gabby & Manny had a beautiful ceremony right on the edge of the lake. It was intimate and as Gabby said during the actual ceremony “really non-traditional”. She may have been so in the moment that mom had to run back and grab her bouquet after she walked down the aisle, but they shared vows and a beautiful family sand ceremony and they were one. The smiles on their faces as they shared words with one another was so special. It was hard for me to keep the lens up over my tear filled eyes for sure!
I like to brag that my couples really put a lot of trust in me and my ideas. This is totally true, but every once in a while I get a couple or a bride who has an idea that I have to put trust into. This 99% of the time comes out amazing and I get so excited. Gabby wanted to go in the lake. There is no other way to say it. She wanted epic water portraits, so some of her bridals were done in the water and let me tell you, wowza. If anyone else is ever up for some epic water portraits I’ve got you. Be sure to scroll through slowly to catch them!
Manny & Gabby, thank you so much for sharing your day with me. It was so amazing to see you all and be a part of your day! I love you guys, and your adorable little family!
